Meet Our Team
Samantha C. Cole began her nursing career after earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Case Western Reserve University in 1997. She spent 19 years specializing in women’s health, primarily in Labor and Delivery, working within the University Hospitals of Cleveland and Medina General Hospital systems. During this time, she also provided home health care, supporting women and infants throughout the prenatal and postnatal periods. Samantha concluded her registered nursing career as a Nursing Educator for Labor and Delivery at Lake West Hospital and TriPoint Hospital.
In 2016, Ms. Cole earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Ohio University and practiced as a Family Nurse Practitioner with CVS MinuteClinic for eight years. For the past two years, she has led a medical weight loss program at Meg’s Med Spa in Willoughby, Ohio, partnering closely with patients to help them achieve sustainable health and wellness goals.
Outside of her professional work, Ms. Cole enjoys traveling, swimming, and spending time with her family. A lifelong resident of Lake County, she lives in Mentor, Ohio with her husband and five children.

Shanon Mekesa Ellis brings a uniquely diverse background in finance, business strategy, and healthcare leadership. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Kent State University and an MBA from Kennesaw State University, launching a successful career in the mid 90's in corporate finance with nationally recognized companies including Coca-Cola Enterprises and The Home Depot in Atlanta, Georgia.
After relocating back to Ohio in 2011, Ms. Mekesa Ellis transitioned into healthcare, earning two additional master’s degrees from Case Western Reserve University- first as a Master’s-prepared Registered Nurse, followed by a Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Her clinical career has spanned both urgent care and primary care settings, with experience at organizations such as CVS MinuteClinic, University Hospitals, Marathon Health, and HNI Physicians Group.
In addition to her clinical work, Ms. Mekesa Ellis is an entrepreneur and business owner, operating a telehealth weight loss practice serving patients throughout Ohio. Her experience in finance, operations, and healthcare helps her make smart, practical decisions regarding business and strategy.
A Lake County resident, Ms. Mekesa Ellis resides in Willoughby, Ohio, with her husband and two children. She enjoys spending time with her family.

Courtney B. Gravens is a Family Nurse Practitioner and healthcare leader with more than 20 years of progressive clinical and administrative experience across primary care, urgent care, academic instruction, and specialty settings. Her career demonstrates a consistent trajectory toward clinical leadership, operational oversight, and team development.
Ms. Gravens previously served as Medical Director at The Lake County Free Clinic, where she provided strategic and operational leadership for a multidisciplinary team. In this role, she oversaw approximately nine staff members and coordinated more than 20 volunteer providers. Her responsibilities included developing and implementing clinic policies and procedures, ensuring quality and continuity of care, managing patients with complex acute and chronic conditions, and serving as a preceptor and mentor for nurse practitioner students, thereby supporting workforce development and clinical education.
Currently, Ms. Gravens practices at Wellstreet Urgent Care, where she independently manages patient care delivery, patient flow, and clinical operations in a fast-paced environment. She routinely delegates tasks, makes timely clinical and operational decisions, and ensures efficient, high-quality care delivery, further reinforcing her ability to integrate direct patient care with systems-level and operational leadership.
Overall, Ms. Gravens’ background reflects a healthcare leader who combines strategic oversight, staff mentorship, operational efficiency, and clinical excellence. She is well-suited for clinical leadership, medical director, program management, and administrative healthcare roles.
Outside of her professional responsibilities, as a lifelong resident of Lake County, Ms. Gravens values lifelong learning and community engagement. She enjoys reading and has organized and participated in a monthly book club for over 10 years with fellow nurses and community leaders. She also enjoys spending time with her daughter and remains active in her community through recreational and family-centered activities.

Dr. Margaret (Maggie) Henning, DNP, MSN, FNP
Margaret E. Henning (Maggie), is a highly skilled Family Nurse Practitioner with two decades of nursing experience and over sixteen years as in advanced practice. She earned her doctorate from Ohio University and her master’s degree at Ursuline College. Dr. Henning possesses a wealth of experience in clinical, academic, and leadership roles across primary care, neurology, emergency room, mother/baby care, and patient education.
Since 2010, Dr. Henning has been practicing as a Family Nurse Practitioner in Lake and Cuyahoga Counties, where she provides comprehensive care services, including diagnosis, treatment planning, initiating medication management to mitigate disease progression, preventive care, optimizing health, and patient and family education. She was instrumental in developing group sessions, participating in research, published and contributed to peer reviewed articles and a medical textbook, developed continuing education programs, presented nationally and locally at conferences, and educational presentations. She has also served on advisory boards for pharmaceutical and healthcare organizations.
Dr. Henning has mentored, trained, and supervised newly hired providers, including Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs), Physician Assistants (PAs), neurology residents, and student nurse practitioners from multiple universities. She has held APRN leadership roles at both the state and national levels. In 2025, she was recognized nationally as the Paragon Award winner for CVS.
Dr. Henning is passionate about collaborative care, optimizing personal health, population health, and improving access to high-quality, patient-centered care. Maggie was born and raised in Lake County and currently resides in Painesville Township, Ohio. When not working, she enjoys traveling, gardening, and caring for her chickens and other animals.
